Tell us a little about yourself
I currently work as a Project Manager for a digital marketing agency in Atlanta, but my passion has always been fashion and writing. As far back as I can remember, I've been putting outfits together. All of my aunts are seamstresses so I grew up knowing about fabrics and design. I began writing seriously at the age of 10 when one of my poems was published in a book of poetry. I would love to write a book someday. I'm also an avid lover of travel as well and have had the opportunity to travel to quite a few places. My future goal is to create my own t-shirt line and then eventually turn it into a brand, called StushiGal Style of course :-)
Can you tell us about your sense of style and your Jamaican influence?
Jamaicans are well known for being bold and coloring outside the lines. It's very important to us to maintain a sense of our culture in all that we do, which is why my blog is called StushiGal Style. The word "Stushi" or "Stush" (as some Jamaicans say) is a word we use to describe a girl as prissy. I got called that a lot as a kid. LOL! I guess it stuck :-) But both of my parents are Jamaican. Jamaica's tag line is "Out of One, Many" which is very true. The island is inhabited by people of so many different colors and that in itself is an inspiration. But I pull inspiration from so many other things...designers I love (the list is too long to name but Valentino is at the top), other bloggers, countries I've been to, scenery...so many things.
How did you start blogging and what's your favorite thing about it?
I started blogging on the advice of my best friend before we went on a trip to South America. She knows how much I love fashion and enjoy writing. It was the best thing I could have done because it has allowed me to express myself creatively. My favorite thing about blogging is that it's my point of view. I'm free to be myself and do what I want, if people like it...great, and if not, that's fine too. But I do hope people enjoy what I do!
What's your go-to outfit for the spring?
I can't say that I have one but I definitely have go-to colors and that's anything bright.
Anything else we should know about you?
I'm a big kid at heart and a complete nerd! I LOVE playing video games and I'm crazy about anything to do with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. LOL!
